I Love Polka Dots!

There is just something about polka dots that attracts my attention.

I've always loved that retro, conservative look.

And I want these in my closet!!!

I've shopped at Alloy.com once via Internet and they have some amazing jeans and sweaters and even dresses. I don't know if they have an actual store location anywhere in my area. As for the prices, it's essentially affordable. This particular sweater is $29.90 on sale. It used to be $39.90. I don't like tight shirts, I enjoy wearing a nice, elegant shirt that gives me room to breathe.

Now that winter is here, this sweater definitely looks cozy!

Now all that is missing is snow outside, fire crackling in my fireplace, a glass of red sweet wine, and a good episode of I Love Lucy to make me laugh. ;)

Ripoff!!!

I rarely if ever check my mail. (Shame on me.) A few days ago when I rummaged through my mailbox, I came across three, yes, three, letters from MoneyMutual, with a picture of Montel Williams on the front, saying, and I quote, "MoneyMutual's online lending network is a cash source you can trust." Trust? Really? At first, seeing his face on the letter and having a quick loan appealed to me since I don't have much money and am struggling financially, I decided to do a quick review research. And just as I expected, it was too good to be true! It turned out that it is a complete scam. From what I understood, they have you complete a form, ask you for your personal bank account information, deposit (or not) the money into your account, and eventually (and possibly) take out more than they should. Not to mention they probably have hidden fees. Most scams like these do.

I have nearly fallen for numerous scams before due to my lack of research and forthright character. This proves not to trust any kind of "lottery" or "get cash now" deception.

Current Hair Products!

When I was little, I had long, thick hair ... and I hated it. Now that I have thin, brittle, dry hair, I wish I could go back in time and retrieve my thick mane! I should have appreciated what I had back then. :)

  • Coconut Milk smells amazing. It is an anti-breakage serum and it makes for soft (yet a little oily) hair. I mostly rub it onto my ends and let it soak in while I sleep. I bought it at Walgreens where I purchase most of my hair and skin products. I apply it on damp hair.
  • Aussie Mousse. Recently I had my hair styled and the stylist told me to apply mousse to my roots for extra thickness. So that is exactly what I am doing now. It seems to be working, I suppose. I don't expect miracles, however. Not at the rate I am losing my hair. I have tried many shampoos and their promises lack the initiation. *sad*
  • Turn Up The Heat! I bought this a year ago and spritz it on my hair (wet or dry) before straightening or curling or even blow-drying it sometimes. It smells amazing.
  • I have been using Fructis shampoo for many years. It gives my hair strength and shine. (The commercials didn't lie about this one. They sure have the ingredients for it.) I switch shampoos often, but I always go back to this one eventually. I will keep you updated on the next shampoo I use, but Fructis is definitely one I rely on for shine and strength. Someone once told me to use Johnson's baby shampoo to prevent hair loss, and when I tried to comb my hair, I lost an additional 20% of my hair.... That was the first and last time I used it.
  • Luxurious Volume Conditioner by John Frieda is a hair product I randomly picked up at Walgreens the other day. I came to work early and since my boss didn't open the office yet, I wandered next door to "see what they had, with a promise not to buy anything" and I ended up purchasing this conditioner with the hopes that it will thicken my hair a bit like the label stated. So far, I like it. It was about $6.99 or something relatively close. For me, it was a bit pricey, but I use it faithfully each time I wash my hair.
  • Last but not least, a Sally Beauty Supply I picked up a few years back. I LOVE their Silk Elements shampoo, though. It's a leave-in conditioner, but the reason I don't rave about this one is primarily because I don't like the smell of it. It isn't too bad, but if it doesn't smell good, I won't continue to use it. Simple as that. Same goes for lotion, too. :)

More pictures of my trip to Croatia!

I will include some more. I hope to go back in a few years. :)

Ozujsko Pivo (beer). My oldest cousin and I in Sisak chilling.

I wad addicted to our cappuccinos in Europe! Unfortunately, I have searched for the same brand here in USA and I cannot find it. It had gotten so bad that I usually had up to three or four in one day!

A week after my arrival when my grandmother decided to throw a little party-party for me. She prepared roasted lamb and what did I do? I stuffed my face on chicken. (I dislike lamb....) It's okay, grandma, you didn't know! And neither did I until I tried it. Yuck!

In Galija. There I am again chugging on that delicious cappuccino.

Ready for Dubica.

Preparing for my cousin's wedding.

Returning to America as a brunette. This was taken on my 24th birthday in 2011. :)

Off to a friend's wedding.

After church in Denny's. Lol.

Cousin Milana.

My oldest cousin's son, my grandfather and cousin's daughter, my wonderful niece who was named after me. Ahh, I feel special. ;)

Croatia: Part II

Here are more pictures! Enjoy!

This used to be a store my aunt worked in. I remember as a little girl coming in and she always wore her usual white coat. She reminded me of a pharmacist.

This was in that Chinese store in Prijedor.

Zara, Zara ... Rather a more pricey store. I did not end up purchasing anything here. Sad for me and the sales clerk.

Pure Heaven.

Coming back from the pool.

Croatia 2011: Part I

I want to share my experience in Croatia last year. I was there visiting my family for three (I still can't believe I was there that long...) months and I had a fun time seeing (almost) everyone. Most of the family on my father's side reside in Serbia (as do few on my mother's side as well), so I did not get a chance to pay them a visit, unfortunately. I was afraid I would run out of funds quickly, as they were already dwindling down due to my excessive spending when it comes to clothes, makeup and jewelry.... Shame, shame. :)

I went dress shopping a few weeks before I headed out overseas. I just thought I'd throw these in here for the heck of it!

My old apartment. :(

A view from my aunt's village. It overlooks my town, Kostajnica.

Doesn't this give you the Godfather effect? I always think of that series when I see this picture. Oh, Don Corleone.... :)

My sister-in-law (snajka) taking a photo of me in front of a Chinese clothing stone. They had some amazing merchandise!

Phillips.

I will hold off my discuss about my weight loss issues and weight loss journey for another time. This is relative to that topic, however, really quickly, as for those having issues with constipation, the product I recommend if fast and good results are expected. This syrup is to make any human gag, no matter how great are the gag reflexes. It works within half an hour to an hour. Any other type of laxatives in tablet form create cramps and take up to four to six hours to create a bowel movement. No matter what flavor, this stuff tastes awful. I nearly throw up every time.

Pros:
1. Works fast.
2. Works well.
3. No cramps.
4. Breaks the bowel substance into liquid.

Cons:
1. It will definitely make you gag or worse, throw up.
2. Well, that's about it....

My Goulash Recipe.

Who says third time's a charm?! I made it on the first try!

Yesterday I carefully attempted to make stew, any kind of stew. A few weeks ago my boyfriend made me goulash and it turned out to be one of the most delicious dishes I have ever tasted! If a boy can make a good meal, then so can I, who enjoys making meals. It wasn't until last summer when I visited my fam-fam back in Croatia that I started cooking and baking. I met my new sister-in-law and she is younger than me and knew how to cook! I felt slightly embarrassed, but she sure taught me a few tricks! She grew up on a farm and had more experience, while I relied on my mother to do most of the cooking around the house.

Anyhow, back to my goulash... I get sidetracked easily.

Since my return from Houston (where my boyfriend resides) I was determined to make my own goulash and when I tested out my skills yesterday, I can surely say I passed the test with flying colors! Even my mother was impressed. :)

I will share with you my joyous recipe below. If you decide to make it, good luck and enjoy.

Mind you, I was on my feet for three hours while I prepped, chopped and stirred!

(Bear in mind, this will be approximately a serving for about four to five people ... or depending on how much food you can consume in one sitting.) LOL.

Spices you will need:
  • Serbian spice called Vegeta found in Walmart (No, not Vegeta from Dragon Ball Z, silly!!!)
  • Mrs. Dash (Table Blend, or any version your taste buds prefer.)
  • Bay Leaves (Not for consumption, I take them out when I am ready to eat.)
  • KC Masterpiece Steak Seasoning
  • Paprika Pimento
  • Mrs. Wages Pasta Sauce (Hold this one off until the end. You will fry it in a pan with a tablespoon of butter in oil and add to the stew.)
  • McCormic Parsley Leaves
  • Spice Classic Chicken Seasoning

Vegetables you will need ... to chop, of course. Unless you want to stick them whole in the metal bowl, but it won't have the same effect as the picture portrays. J/K. :)
  • 1 green or red bell pepper
  • 1 large carrot
  • 1 small bowl of mushrooms (Wash those buggers, you never know in whose hands they've been in.)
  • 1 onion
  • 1 garlic clove
  • 1 stick of celery
  • 3 small potatoes ... or two large ones. Whatever.
  • 1 small can of tomato paste
  • 3 tablespoons of ordinary spaghetti sauce (For the sake of coloring!)
  • 2 chicken breasts
  • 2 pork chops
  • 1 can of green beans
  • 1 Avocado

Now that you have all the ingredients, or at least I hope you do. I fear that I left something out, but as long as we included meat, who cares about the rest! Now, whip out a large cooking bowl or in whatever dish you cook soup. Add about three to four tablespoons of oil (any kind you usually use). When the oil is hot, throw in the garlic, onion, Mr. Carrot (chopped...), avocado, that smelly stick of celery and the chopped mushrooms. Stir for a minute, add the green beans and a few bay leaves, then low the temperature from high to about medium or even lower. You don't want the veggies to burn while you cut the chicken and the pork.

Speaking of the devil, while your home is filled with the onion aroma, and when you diced the meat, place in any large enough plastic bowl. Now to season it, I sprinkle vegeta (again, not the dude from Dragon Ball Z...), Mrs. Dash, add the parsley leaves, steak seasoning, Pimento and chicken seasoning. Stir with your (clean) hands. Make sure you check on the veggies from time to time.

NOW... In a frying pan, sprinkle oil and add the meat just enough for the meat to alter its color--it doesn't need to fry for more than a few minutes. Add a large cup of water to the vegetables and go ahead and be brave enough to add the meat. You will have to add a cup of water every once in a while, and when you do, raise the temperature for just a few minutes. Stir, stir, stir. (The reason for H2O is so the content does not become condensed.)

Next, chop the potatoes and add to the stew after it has been cooking for an hour. Add the tomato paste (Yes, you'll get your share of exercise standing in that hot kitchen.) I chopped the potatoes in really tiny pieces, but you don't have to. Stir, stir, stir (no sitting!) and in about two hours (hey, the longer the ingredients cook, the better it tastes), in a small frying pan, sprinkle oil and add the Mrs. Wages Pasta Sauce, along with a small cube of butter (of course if you don't like butter, you don't have to add it, deary). Keep stirring for about a minute and add to the stew and--you guessed it--stir some more! (Gee, I feel like I forgot to mention something...)

Aha. As for the spices, keep adding sprinkles of vegeta from time to time, along with Mrs. Dash, steak seasoning, chicken seasoning and the parsley leaves. Make sure not to add a lot, because you don't want it to taste too salty! Add hot paprika if you like it spicy. Taste from time to time just to test it. If too bland, add more vegeta. Bear in mind, one of vegeta's ingredients is salt, along with dried vegetables, which is why I don't salt any of my foods.

Lastly, a great combination with goulash is mashed potatoes, white rice (which I haven't tried yet but it sounds like it would work), and macaroni.

Tip: I sprinkled on Parmesan cheese and added a dollop of sour cream on top for extra flavor. This is not a recipe for dieters, however, you always have a choice to include low fat or fat free ingredients as well as watch your portion sizes.

FYI: If you didn't understand any of what I just explained, basically add oil, let it heat up and shove everything you have in the fridge and let it stew for a few hours. You can't go wrong. Just leave that chocolate cake out ... save it for when you decide to have an attempt at desert.

FINAL PRODUCT! TA-DAA!

Lol. My younger cousin and I in Kostajnica, Croatia last summer. The day before I was to come back home. *tear*

Hello, World.

I have been researching free online blogs for many months now. Every single one looks appealing until they state the price, even when the ads claim “FREE, FREE” everywhere. So far, I am liking this site very much. I look forward to sharing my life’s interests on here as I feel that keeping an online journal is a wonderful hobby. Even though I have responsibilities outside of the virtual world, by keeping track of a blog will fill up my time. It is a great way to utilize my downtime.
Speaking of writing, I am not an amateur. I have previously written poems (two of which have won contests, yay)! I have written two whole novels (another yay)! I am currently working on three more meanwhile looking for a suitable agent to publish my second novel. (The first one needs a little TLC.) I had an agent take an interest in the manuscript and had requested a sample. Still to this day, I regret for not taking the leap of faith. It could have turned into something. At least I know I have potential! :)
There, that is it for now as far as my introduction goes. I shall be back with more funny, sad, interesting banter of my daily life and as I progress through my journey. To conclude, it has definitely not been an easy one. I’ve been dealt with many challenges that have rendered me feeling hopeless, dumbfounded and ill-tempered. (Hey, there is always room for improvement. As humans, we never stop growing and maturing.)
So, that being said … enjoy! :)
I used to be a blonde. This photo was a few days before I was due to fly to Croatia in the summer of 2011. I know this great lake near the Altamonte Mall in Altamonte Springs I often visit. And get this--they have a Starbucks nearby.
